Bundesliga

The Bundesliga is the premier professional football (soccer) league in Germany. Established in 1963, it is the top tier of the German football league system and features 18 clubs that compete annually. The league operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the second tier, known as 2. Bundesliga. The Bundesliga seasons generally run from August to May, with each team playing 34 matches, facing each other once at home and once away. The league is known for its high attendance, competitive teams, and development of young talent. The team with the most points at the end of the season is declared the champion, while the bottom teams face relegation to the lower division. The Bundesliga is also recognized for its emphasis on fan culture and community ownership structures, particularly the 50+1 rule, which ensures that clubs maintain a majority of ownership by their members.
