Flu

Flu, short for influenza, is a contagious viral infection that primarily affects the respiratory system. It is caused by influenza viruses, which can lead to symptoms such as fever, chills, cough, sore throat, body aches, fatigue, and sometimes gastrointestinal symptoms. The flu is often confused with the common cold, but it is typically more severe and can lead to serious health complications, especially in vulnerable populations such as young children, elderly individuals, and those with underlying health conditions. Influenza spreads through respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs or sneezes, as well as by touching surfaces contaminated with the virus. Annual vaccination is recommended to help prevent infection and reduce the severity of illness, as the flu virus can change from year to year.
