Ukraine

Ukraine is a country in Eastern Europe. It is bordered by Belarus to the northwest, Russia to the northeast and east, and by several other countries, including Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, and Moldova to the west. The Black Sea and the Sea of Azov lie to the south. Ukraine is known for its rich agricultural land, diverse landscapes, and a significant cultural heritage. The capital and largest city is Kyiv. Ukraine has experienced various historical influences and struggles, particularly during the 20th century, including significant events related to the Soviet Union. Since gaining independence in 1991, following the dissolution of the USSR, Ukraine has sought to establish its sovereignty and navigate its relationship with Western nations and Russia. The country has a complex political landscape and has faced challenges, including territorial disputes, notably the annexation of Crimea by Russia in 2014, and ongoing conflict in the eastern regions. Ukrainian is the official language, and the population is characterized by a mix of ethnic groups, with a predominant Slavic Ukrainian identity.
